Nintendo charts return of ‘Zelda,’ ‘Star Fox’ at E3

While this writer predicted there would be a Skylanders like game to incorporate Amiibo in for the Wii U, that wasn’t the case. And with more vehicles too, as Nintendo confirmed StarFox’s Arwing now turns into a Walker to move on land, and there’s also a Gyrowing, helicopter-like ship. The Wii U game controller takes center stage as the player has a cockpit view via a third-party camera perspective. Later this year, Nintendo will make available special Turbo Charger Donkey Kong and Hammer Slam Bowser figurines and vehicles that are both Skylanders SuperChargers toys and Amiibos. Called Triforce Hero, the game has you teaming up with two other players and taking one dungeons together.

Xenoblade Chronicles X which is already out in Japan was showcased in an impressive trailer and also revealed the western release date, December 4 2015.

It was hard to get excited for anything, as most of it was just new footage on games they’ve been showing for years. The rest consisted mainly of many new 3DS games…with familiar faces. Next up was a new entry in the underrated Paper Mario series, the perfectly titled Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam.

Super Mario Maker is even more exciting because you can make enemies and obstacles do things that they’ve never done before in Mario games. Obviously Nintendo wouldn’t let such an occasion pass without mention, and so we saw three Mario games – two new, one with further information and insight into its creation. The mash up of Mario and Paper Mario seems to be a fun and clever idea.
